Chelmsford is home to two great theatres, the Civic and Crompton, both situated in the west end of the town. Both host a wide variety of entertainment including; concerts, plays, pantomimes, opera, jazz, dance, musicals, comedy performances, films and live music.
The Civic Theatre
The Civic is the larger of the two theatres, with a 505 seat auditorium. It hosts an assorted program of professional and amateur arts and entertainment events throughout the year. The Civic prides itself on its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and ability to appeal all age ranges.
The Cramphorn Theatre (adjoining the Civic)
The Cramphorn is a much smaller, intimate studio theatre which seats up to 180 people. The theatre hosts a series of small-scale touring theatres, music productions and dance. The theatre is well-known for its innovative world film screenings and fantastic programme of mainstream cinema. The Cramphorn is also home to the ever-popular lunch-time concerts, a regular and diverse program of music performed between 1pm and 2pm on a Wednesday lunchtime

Bookings can be made with a credit or debit card. Reservations made will be held up to four days and must be paid in full at least 24 hours prior to the performance.
Bookings made by credit/ debit card either by phone or in person are subject to a £1 booking fee per transaction.
